EMCA Supports the BeActive Awards 2024 in Brussels
The European Multisport Club Association (EMCA) made a strong presence at the BeActive Awards 2024, held on November 26 at the Cardo Hotel in Brussels under the auspices of the European Commission. The event was attended by EMCA President Ms. Christina Tsiligkiri, who was a member of the awards jury us a member of Be Active Board, and Development Director and Sustainability Mr. Bojan Mijatovic, as a guest.
The BeActive Awards celebrated and recognized initiatives from across Europe that inspire society to adopt a more active lifestyle. The award categories and winners were as follows:
#BeActive Education Award:
Winner: Sportunion “Österreich”
This award demonstrates how education can encourage children to be active, not only through physical activities during school hours but also with additional initiatives like out-of-school events and creative solutions that foster an active learning environment.
#BeActive Workplace Award:
Winner: Metropole de Lyon
This award celebrates innovative workplace practices that encourage employees to stay active. It includes initiatives during work hours, lunch breaks, or before and after work, promoting a healthier and more active working environment.
#BeActive Local Hero Award:
Winner: Alessio Bernabo
This award honors individuals who inspire their communities to participate in sports and physical activities. It recognizes their consistent efforts to promote an active lifestyle within their local environment.
#BeActive Across Generations Award:
Winner: Fundacja Rozwoju Sportu Espanola
This award acknowledges projects that promote intergenerational solidarity through sports. It aims to raise awareness about healthy lifestyles across all age groups and ensure accessible physical activities for everyone.
During the Gala, the finalists of each category were also showcased, offering further inspiration through their initiatives. EMCA’s participation in this significant event highlights its commitment to promoting physical activity, equality, and intergenerational collaboration. With the continuous support of the European Commission and programs like Erasmus+, EMCA remains dedicated to supporting impactful initiatives that uphold the values of sports and foster collaboration across Europe.
