EMCA Connect Istanbul: FONTES (FOstering New TEchniques for Social Integration through Sport)

The FONTES project was showcased during the EMCA Connect Autumn 2025 weekend in Istanbul, as part of the EMCA Projects Poster Walk, highlighting the power of sport as a tool for social inclusion and community integration.

FONTES (FOstering New TEchniques for Social Integration through Sport) uses sport to foster social integration, particularly among recent immigrant communities and youth at risk of exclusion. The project engages both grassroots sports organisations and religious institutions of various faiths, leveraging their trusted community networks to reach vulnerable young people.

Building on the “Sport for Development and Peace (SDP)” approach, FONTES focuses especially on marginalised youth and Muslim communities, promoting mutual understanding, inclusion, and active participation through sport.

EMCA is the coordinator of this project, supporting the design, implementation, and dissemination of new inclusive sport models across Europe.
