Ferencvárosi Torna Club (“Ferencváros”) was founded on the 3rd of May in 1899, its first Chairman was Ferenc Springer. FTC’s official logo, five green and four white stripes symbolize the 9th district of Budapest, and the three ‘E’s refers to the motto of the club: Morality, Power, Agreement.
FTC is Hungary’s most prestigious multisport club. Our football team is the Hungarian record champion by winning 28 Championships and 20 times the Hungarian Cup. In the season 1931/32 Ferencváros won all of its games, which is a fantastic record in Hungary. Ferencváros also has celebrated big European successes: 1965 the team has won the Inter-cities Fairs Cup (the series before UEFA Cup and Europa League) and reached 1975 the final of the Cup Winners Cup. Our club became the first Hungarian team which managed to qualify to the UEFA Champions League groupe stage in 1995.
Our legendary player, Flórián Albert is the only Hungarian football player so far, who managed to win the FIFA Golden Ball in 1967.
From a next generation, our former striker, Tibor Nyilasi won the FIFA Silver Shoe in 1981.
Our handball department is a regular participant of the top European handball tournaments. They lifted the EHF Cup Winners’ Cup trophy in 1978, 2011 and 2012, and they were also crowned as the EHF Cup winners in 2006. The team also reached the finals of the EHF Champions League two times.
During the decades many players of our female handball team became an elite player of the Hungarian National Team, such as: Ágnes Farkas, Beatrix Kökény, Ildikó Pádár, Tímea Tóth, Zsuzsanna Tomori, Zita Szucsánszki.
